The TECH 4 Heritage project started officially on the 5th January 2023 with co-financing from the European Commission’s Creative Europe Programme.
The project is coordinated by Ivan Erhel of The Fact Stories who was delighted to meet Iraq’s Minister of Culture in Paris in February. The State Board of Antiquities (SBAH) is supporting the project and enabling access to monuments and sites in Iraq.
Training took place in the museum of Nassiriyah. Field session took place in Ur, ancient capital of Mesopotamia, where there is the Great Ziggurat of Ur and the Royal cemetery.
Training in Mosul took place in the University of archeology of Mosul. Most exercises were made on random objects. Field session took place in Bab Maska, one of the doors of the Antique city of Ninivae.
During our workshops on the site of the ancient city of Babylon, trainees worked on parts of the processional way monuments and pavement bricks. Field session took place in Borsippa.
